Not only it’s the middle of the week, but it’s also the middle of January! We hope you aren’t too burned out by winter. To our friends in Australia: we are jealous of your summer. Until then, we will keep warm with the Hump Day Heat! Here’s our list of active winter bloggers lighting up the week:
Mr. DS’s Smoking Hot Reads!
Speaking of fire, Reverse The Crush is spitting some serious flames when he discusses The Appalling Disrespect Towards Money. He will be more than happy to take your money if you are just going to throw it away on nonsense!
Amy at Life Zemplified reminds us that it is Not A Sacrifice If You Don’t Value It. What one person views as essential, the next person might find it laughable. We are all interesting creatures aren’t we?
ESI Money continues his brilliant millionaire series by interviewing Stop Ironing Shirts. Mr. Shirts shares the details of his success and some awesome professional development tips. As you know, we are pretty fond of that stuff around here!
Mrs. DS is finding people Burning Down the House!
Not literally, but, I did get the Talking Heads song hit stuck in my head when reading about what some people are doing in their homes…
The Green Purpose took me down memory lane when they wrote about “You Don’t Need the Perfect Home All At Once.” They described what all they were all looking for in their home purchase. And, developed a list of requirements (must do’s!) and wish list items. Yasss! It’s important to track and have a priority list in your home! Bonus Tip: decorate with plants! I’ll admit, I don’t have a green thumb and need some self-sustaining house plants (Laine…can you help me out with that…future blog post idea?!! With pics please!).
Mortgage. That is the one last piece of debt hanging over our heads. Every time I see how much of the payment goes toward the principal it makes me throw up in my mouth just a little. However, Countdown to Tranquility has a defined game plan to knock out their mortgage before they retire in, “Shave A Year Off Your Mortgage – Just $3,600 Could Save You $8,000!” To aid in this goal, BusyMom is also participating in the “buy-nothing-for-a-year challenge” — could you do not by anything for your wardrobe for a year?! I opted out. 🙁 But, if you are up to the challenge – let her know!
There’s one angel on my shoulder whispering to pay off debt, then there’s another on my other shoulder shouting the opposite…and his name is Cubert! Of course, he goes and posts again about his Early Retirement Wealth [Powered by Airbnb]. Gah, if there’s one temptation/fantasy I have it’s reality and the possibility of retirement wealth funded by Airbnb. Well, if we ever take the plunge…I know a guy that has already done the hard work in figuring out how to get it all set up! Thanks man!
The FIRE is Lit!
But the question is – do you have your pots (goals) on the front burner or the back burner? What are you doing to keep the FIRE burning?
Miss last week’s? No problem! Get caught up right here!
