Welcome To Defined Sight!
Today is Wednesday…..Hummmp Dayyyyyyyy! (in accent from that one camel commercial) and we bring to you our weekly newsletter, Hump Day Heat, highlighting some amazing finds within our favorite blogging community.
We also look to look at random historical information, as well as “National Day Of…” for fun facts.
Did you know that on this day, in 1885, The magazine “Good Housekeeping” was first published?! When put on the spot, Mrs. DS admits to having a subscription or two of this magazine back in the day. Naturally, to likely feed her cleaning obsession. But, that’s a pretty impressive pull to be bringing in new readers who are born a hundred years after their debut!
Also, did you know that May 2nd is National Life Insurance Day? Whoa….who, what, when, where, why and Huh?! Yup, it has it’s own National Day of and a quite a fascinating history of origin. Check it out for “hmm, now you know” moment.
OK! Now let’s get down to business!
Who are we gazing at this week?! Read more to find out!
Mrs. DS has her sight set on: Motivation
One of my favorite reads this week was sent to me by my husband, Mr. DS. Having been out for over a week with an insane fever/flu/whatever, one feels like they fall behind and can’t get back to where they’ve been. Nor feels like efforts they have done, are amounting to much of anything.
This article is from Zach at Four Pillar Freedom on “Putting Forth the Effort Even When You Don’t See Results.”
“Effort is always rewarded, but rarely as quickly as you would like.. ” – As well as in ways that weren’t your original intentions.
I challenge you all to start writing down your goals, frustrations and see where you are in a year from now with them!
It seems like we were just celebrating a few blogger’s milestones, but I feel like this one can’t be missed! Especially if one has been blogging since 2005 and has 1,000 posts!
DocG at Diversefi shares “What I’ve Learned In Writing 1,000 Posts” And I found it to be pretty sweet, simple and useful advice! Looking forward to the next 1,000 posts DocG!
Mr. DS Is Seeing Stars!
The winner of “best title ever” goes to Lily aka The Frugal Gene. I mean how can you compete with “What Fatty Fat FatFIRE Looks Like To Me.” I like the idea of the Multi-Gen Estate, Lily. Especially with friends, not in-laws or family hah! Whenever I hear fat fire, it makes me think of one of my favorite beers….Fat Tire. I recommend reading Lily’s post while drinking one…..except it is so damn funny you might spit it out!
Laurie from The Three Year Experiment wrote an epic post titled “Your Complete Guide to Location Independence For Families.” This one spoke to my soul after enduring another long, cold winter. One of these years……
